Summary

I have some really best friends who have accompanied me for a really long time.
When I am happy or sad, they are always there to be with me. And I have
already treated them as my family. They are part (or even half!) of my life.

Actually...they are the internet, mobile phones and the like. lol

There are lots of things I would like to share about my digital life. However, it is
time to sum up my posts. What I have shared with you these days are my digital
life, importance of layout, interactive internet life and re-creation. But of course,
there are far more I would like to share.

Those are the main points of my every post:
My digital life: MyTV is my favorite. I recommend you this great website!
Importance of layout: Without layout, the authors, advertisers and the like are hard or
                                     even cannot attract the auidence.
Interactive internet life: Internet can be very interactive now unlike the one we have
                                       seen before.
Re- creation: Re- creation is kind of unique creation. The laws of the copyright is hard
                      and should not be set up.

Copyright of derivative work in Hong Kong has been the talk of town in recent years.

Most of the people disagree there should be laws to restrict the re- creation of the

works from the internet. They say so because they believe the development of creative
ideas will be disturbed.

On the other hand, the ones who support the laws believe it is their works. As such,
they have the right to stop people from using them. Moreover, many owners spend
lots of money and resources on their works. One of the examples is music video by
singers. If they don't stop the others to re-create the works, their benefits will be
reduced. 

My opinion is that the law should not be set up. For the public, they can hardly
express their opinions on the internet by re- creating something new. For the
owners, it is hard for them to find out how many the contents have been copied. It
is very time- consuming.

I do believe re- creation is a golden opportunity for the public to express their
feelings and show their creation.

Interactive internet life

Do you remember the game advertising shown on Youtube in our lecture? If
you don't remember, that's okay. It is because I found a one which is also
very interactive. And please make a guess what the product is after watching
it. (***There is foul language)

In the past, Media are very linear. Linear media is a term used
to describe any media where there is a defined beginning and a linear progression
to the end. (quoted from Answers) Examples are television and radio. But with
Internet, media changes to be non-linear and very interactive. We can choose
what and when we want to see immediately. Also, links are everywhere. The
connection becomes worldwide.

Maybe you will think the interactivity of the internet ends here. But the truth
is not. It is actually still developing.


The video you watched before is one of the examples.Youtube has always been
regarded as a very useful video tool. But it is quite hard to imagine how interactive
it is.

Youtube now becomes very interactive with the advertiser and the audience. The

advertiser has promotion outside the normal rectangular box. And the audience
can choose what endings they want to be. It is no longer decided by the video makers
but ourselves.

Apple also did something very interactive before.

 

It was an advertisement shown on New York Times. And there are several versions.
The guys in the ad are seemed to be talking with us. Apple creates out of the box.
That's why it is so successful. (just is my opinion)


Internet nowadays has already been interactive. But I believe it will not stop
developing. I can foresee we can see more interactive stuff when we surf
the Net in the future.

Importance of layout

After the lectures, I learned that there are different types of layouts on different
websites. That makes me wonder if there is no layout, what would the
websites become.

(What is layout? It involves the arrangement of design contents such as: Texts,
 Contents, Colors, Lines)

So how important layout is? Let's take a look at these 2 popular searchers in
Hong Kong first.

What is your feelings towards the two searchers? My feeling is I would definitely
choose Yahoo! as my homepage and searcher. It is because the Yahoo! one is
more appealing and there are many different contents and tools throughout one
page. As for Google, I am not saying it is not good, just it is too simple. I cannot
get what I want on the page immediately.

Back to what I would like to share today. Layout is very important because
layout is first impression.
   One of the biggest factors for a random internet surfer to stay and be curious about
   the website is layout.Once you don't feel like you are comfortable or feel convenient
   about the website,you would never go again. And this is very true in the case of online
   business. Take Youtube as an example, it is well- maintained and easy for the visitors to
   navigate and enter. Its layout is probably one of the reasons why it is so successful.

Texts: Concise, simple
Contents: Not only can we search what we want, we can also choose the popular,
updated ones
Colors: Simple but clear
Lines(parts): There are around 4 parts on one page (searcher on top, profile on the left,
subscriptions on the middle, recommendation on the right)

Layout is very important. And hope the layout of my blog is good enough to attract
more visitors to come! ^^
